Details: Things We Love

Teepee Smoke: A New Look into the Life and Work of Joseph Henry Sharp by Forrest Fenn

Beautifully written and lavishly illustrated with more than 175 color plates and 132 black-and-white images, this 370-page book is Forrest Fenn’s latest masterpiece chronicling the life and work of painter Joseph Henry Sharp. Fenn’s tireless research shines with details, anecdotes and even a list of all known Sharp paintings. The text is brilliant, but are we wrong to love this book for the pictures?

Gypsy Queen Goes to Cody by Rustic Furniture

In her Montana studio, Diane Ross has been creating one-of-a-kind furniture with names like Saturday Night Cowgirl Cupboard since 1979. She uses intricate twig overlays, brilliant color and often incorporates Native American beadwork design. We flipped for her Gypsy Queen Goes to Cody breakfront with its fused glass doors by artist Stephanie Smith. Our favorite part of this reclaimed and distressed oak wonder? The velvet-lined secret drawer.

Dunis Studios Modern Surfaces Ceramic Tile Collection

Known for its original handmade art tiles, Dunis Studios added to its Modern Surfaces Collection with a unique array of jaw-droppingly creative tiles, hand-cast and hand-painted with extraordinary surface textures including wire grid, corrugations, washers, bolts and stucco. Though choosing a favorite is nearly impossible, we are drawn to the Bronze Washers. We love that each tile can be made frost-resistant for exterior and water-feature use in all climates, and that we can choose from a range of 300-plus colors.

Kelly Hutch from J.L. Miller Company

Inspired by the jagged peaks of the Tetons, the Kelly Hutch is part of the J.L. Miller Company’s trademark Fieldworx Collection. The hardwoods — choose from red oak, maple, cherry or walnut — are all hand bent and crafted with hand-cut joinery. Though we swoon over the asymmetrical design, perfect for displaying dinnerware, we love that this environmentally progressive company — founded by an artist and a designer in a tiny Iowa town — uses all FSC-certified sustainable wood.
