Plein air landscape painter Glenn Dean conveys a complicated vision using a simple yet elegant palette, capturing light and serenity in every stroke. Whether considering his seascapes or the pueblos of the Southwest, Dean continues to imbue his subject with an open-eyed wonder and an innocent frankness.
His rendition of the land as a divine gift offers the viewer a fresh perspective as well as a reminder of the boundless beauty in the world. Dean paints on location throughout the Southwest, dividing his time between deserts, mountains and coastal subjects.
The artist has won a number of awards, including the first ever “Emerging Artist Award” presented by Art and Antiques Magazine. He is also the recipient of the Grand Prize and Artists Choice awards at the inaugural Tucson/Sonoran Desert Museum Plein Air Invitational. Dean has been invited to show in numerous exhibitions including the Maynard Dixon Country, Mt. Carmel, Utah; Coors Western Art Show, Golden, Colorado; and at Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum, Tucson, Arizona; and Cape Cod Museum of Art, Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Solo shows by the artist include those at Brandon Michael Fine Art, Santa Fe, New Mexico; John B. Strong Fine Art, Scottsdale, Arizona; and Medicine Man Gallery, Tucson, Arizona.
